Alyssa Carson, the young astronaut trainee who received international attention for her singular focus on becoming an astronaut and traveling to Mars, visited the Florida Tech campus on Dec. 20. After driving up from her home in Hammond, Louisiana, with her father, Bert, Alyssa toured campus and had lunch with Provost Monica Baloga, Senior Vice President for Research Gisele Bennett and associate professor Csaba Palotai.
Later, she met with Florida Tech’s First Family, Dwayne and Mary Helen McCay, as well as Dan Batcheldor, head of the Aerospace, Physics and Space Sciences Department, and Sam Durrance, professor and former shuttle astronaut.
