Two Florida Tech students received noteworthy financial awards recently.
Iulia Bibire, a rising senior majoring in oceanography pictured below in blue, was awarded $2,500 as the university’s Maul Scholar. The award, funded by an endowment created by long-time Florida Tech professor George Maul and his wife, Carole, will go towards Bibire’s marine and environmental field project summer experience.
Andrea Taggart, a rising senior in environmental science pictured below, received a $1,000 award from Cocoa Beach Sail and Power Squadron. Her entry essay focused on mitigating the effects of climate change on the Indian River Lagoon. The award, which is in memory of Jane and Dick Schnoor, will go towards Taggart’s field projects experience.
More than a dozen students applied for the two scholar awards.
