Chinese Olympic Hopefuls Train at Florida Tech Challenge Course

Members of the Chinese National Softball Team and their coaches spent time in March training at the Florida Tech Challenge Course in Fellsmere. They were in the midst of eight weeks of training at Dodgertown in Vero Beach in preparation for the Olympic Trials this summer.

“They were an amazing group of young women: enthusiastic, athletic, smart and fast learners,” said David Beach, Florida Tech’s assistant director of marine and outdoor operations.

The group started off with some icebreakers and initiatives and then moved to the Marine Obstacle Course, where they learned the importance of teamwork and technique in order to successfully complete the course. From there they moved to the Leadership Reaction Course for more in-depth teambuilding and problem solving events.

Beach thanked coaches Teresa Wilson and Tom Hazlehurst, and the staff at Dodgertown, for “giving us this unique opportunity to work with the team.”
