Treat or Treat Draws Big Crowd

Residence Life’s Treat or Treat attracted over 3,000 attendees on Oct. 29, more than doubling last year’s attendance as members of the public joined the campus community for scares, games and candy.

The event is the only Residence Life program that is open to the public.

Forty minutes after the event began, over 1,000 people had already gathered on the Residence Quad lawn. Attendees enjoyed cotton candy and other treats, Florida Tech Trolley rides, a pumpkin patch in the new Ethos Community Garden, and performances by students on a center stage.

The Residence Life staff, composed of nearly sixty undergraduate resident assistants, oversaw the centerpiece of Treat or Treat – five haunted houses that they constructed and staffed in five residence halls. Four were based on popular movies or TV show: Beauty and the Beast, Guardians of the Galaxy, Wonder Woman and The Walking Dead. A fifth house was designed for children five and featured a magical zoo setting.

Several off-campus vendors also contributed to the event, including an electric vehicle display, an ice cream shop, and several bounce houses.
