Hampton Roads Student Named Company Commander

U.S. Army Capt. Francisco Gonzalez Rodriguez, who is completing his Master of Science in Logistics Management degree through Florida Tech’s Hampton Roads site, has been installed as the new commander of the 97th Transportation Company at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.

A Puerto Rico native, Gonzalez Rodriguez joined the U.S. Army in March 2000. His assignments have included the 368th Cargo Transportation Company at Fort Story, Virginia, the 24th Transportation Company at Fort Riley, Kansas, Delta Battery 1/40 Field Artillery at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, the 99th MCT at Aviano Air Base in Italy, the 155th and 567th Inland Cargo Transfer Companies and his current assignment, the 10th Transportation Battalion (Terminal) at Fort Eustis, Virginia.

Gonzalez Rodriguez has two overseas tours and two deployments, including to Iraq and Afghanistan. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1 Silver Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal (2 Silver Leaf Cluster) and the Army Good Conduct Medal (3rd Award).
