Homecoming 2017 Offers Sports, Music, Gala

The theme for Florida Tech’s 2017 Homecoming Nov. 1-4 is “Old Hollywood,” a fitting focus given the action, drama, laughs and thrills the multi-day celebration promises to provide. The annual gathering of alumni, faculty, staff, students and community members from the Space Coast and points beyond will feature a carnival, live sporting events, a free concert, an awards gala and much more.

It all starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at the Homecoming Kickoff sponsored by Greek Life. The two-hour event, happening at Crawford Green on the Florida Tech campus, will offer food and giveaways, the introduction of the Homecoming King and Queen, and other activities and games.

Other Homecoming highlights include the FIT Homecoming 5K Walk/Run in downtown Melbourne on Thursday, Nov. 2, presented by Meg O’Malley’s. Visit to register and for more information. From 6 p.m. to midnight Friday, rock out at Homecoming Fest, also in downtown Melbourne. The Florida Tech Alumni Association has joined forces with Melbourne Mainstreet to offer a memorable evening featuring street vendors, food, drinks and free music from the Scottish rock band The Fratellis.

On Saturday, start tailgating at 11 a.m. on campus, and then head to Florida Tech Panther Stadium for the 1 p.m. homecoming football game, with the Panthers taking on the West Georgia Wolves. And from 6-10 p.m. that night, enjoy the Homecoming Awards Gala at Clemente Center. Find registration and information at
