Athletics Department Wins Inaugural Kickball Tournament

An eight-team kickball tournament developed by Benefits Specialist Karen Hill based on a suggestion from Sarah Irizarry, assistant director, Clemente Center, as part of the university’s Wellness Program was held Oct. 12 at Southgate Field. The winning team was Team Toody from Athletics, which defeated Facilities’ Crushers in the final.

Other teams involved were Big Dogs (the FitBit group), Team MAE, Sub Café, First Year Experience, College of Business and The Rebooters (IT).

“I couldn’t have organized this event without the support of Val Silvestrini and her Girls Softball Team, who performed all the officiating roles. Facilities was also instrumental in making this event possible,” Hill said. “Also, I’m thankful for the support of Kaity Camilli, Michael Finnegan, Erin Fox, Sarah Irizarry, Linda Jancheson, Terri Kruse, Cheryl LeBlanc, Evan Olsen, Wes Sumner, Nikki Wouralis, and of course my director, Karen Gathercole.”

The two final teams are pictured with Florida Tech President Dwayne McCay. The Crushers are in mostly green t-shirts and Toody are in mostly white and grey.
