Students Receive NSF Funding, Offer Conference Presentation

Math students Muhammad Abdulla (left in picture above) and Jake Barrett (right in picture above) presented their research project, “Minimal Orbits, Sharkovski Ordering and Universality in Chaos” at the National Science Foundation-funded Young Mathematicians Conference Aug. 11-13 at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. The highly competitive annual conference selects around 50 best research projects among U.S. universities, and selected students and advisors receive full funding from NSF for participation and presentation.

Abdulla and Barrett did their research at Ugur Abdulla’s NSF-funded Florida Tech REU Site on partial differential equations and dynamical systems. Abdulla is head of the Department of Mathematical Sciences.
