Proctor Filmed for Discovery TV Program

Darby Proctor, assistant professor of psychology, and a ring-tailed lemur named Matilda, were the subjects of a film shoot in July at Brevard Zoo for the Discovery Canada television program Daily Planet.

Proctor does research related to the evolutionary basis of human behavior. Studying how nonhuman primates such as Matilda make choices, especially when they seem counter-productive, can allow scientists to help explain why humans engage in similar ways. The program is scheduled to air in the fall on the Science Channel in the U.S., though no exact run date has been announced.
