Students Attend, Present at AIAA Conference

Twenty-two students from the Florida Tech chapter of the American American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) attended the group’s 68th Annual Southeastern Regional Student Conference in Starkville, Miss., on March 20-21. The students presented 12 papers at the conference and received several awards.

The Project Cerberus senior design team, represented by Larissa Balestrero Machado, Max Skuhersky, and Kineo Wallace, won second prize in the highly competitive Team category for their paper entitled, “Project Cerberus: A Vectoring Formation Flight and Space Debris Removal Spacecraft Prototype.” Meetu Kawatra won third prize in the Freshman/Sophomore Open Topic category for a paper titled, “Microbial Fuel Cell in Microgravity.” And three members of the Florida Tech AIAA chapter, represented by President Noemi Redak, Francisco Bayon and Victor Silva, were recognized in Second Place for Community Outreach.
