Communication instructor Rolanda Hatcher-Gallop in the School of Arts and Communication, organized a visit to campus of 70 sixth graders from University Park Elementary School. During the Dec. 9 visit, the students saw a science demonstration by Associate Professor Joel Olson, experienced the Digital Scholarship Lab at Evans Library, toured the Clemente Center and had lunch in Panther Dining Hall, courtesy of the Office of Enrollment Management. SAC students, many of whom were members of the Florida Tech Public Relations Association campus chapter, served as guides.
Sheri L. McCrary, a science lab teacher at University Park who worked with Hatcher-Gallop on coordinating the visit, said the exposure was beneficial to the students. “This was so exciting for these students. I think it is getting many of them to think about their futures and possibly careers in the STEM/STEAM fields,” she said.
