Panthers Basketball Making a Difference Off the Court

Coach Billy Mims and members of the Florida Tech Panthers basketball team conducted community service events last month for Brevard County children that featured smiles, laughter and some important lessons.

The team visited with students at St. Mark’s Episcopal Academy in Cocoa Village to offer a program called “Slam Dunk Smoking” that highlights the dangers of smoking cigarettes.

Later, Coach Mims and his players put on a basketball clinic for 6- to 9-year-olds from Florida Tech’s Scott Center for Autism Treatment.

“There were lots of smiles all around, and our team truly experienced the joy of giving back today,” Mims said.
