Florida Tech Hosts International Space Safety Conference

Florida Tech hosted the 8th annual International Association for the Advancement of Space Safety in May, where a roster of national and international attendees from academia, government and the private sector discussed safety standards for commercial human spaceflight and space traffic management, among other topics.

The three-day event featured a keynote address from NASA Administrator Charles Bolden.

Florida Tech President and CEO T. Dwayne McCay opened the conference, and Guy Boy, dean of Florida Tech’s School of Human Centered Design, Innovation and Art, was among the keynote speakers.

Other topics covered at the conference, which goes through Friday at several locations on the Florida Tech campus, include launch safety, launch and in-orbit collision risk and the hazards of space weather.
