John Windsor, professor of ocean & environmental science and chair of the Environmental Sciences program at Florida Tech, won the 2016 Charlie Corbeil Conservation Award. A faculty member for more than three decades, Windsor was one of six winners of the prestigious local award, named for Corbeil, a popular Florida Master Naturalist and award-winning nature photographer.

Windsor told the Viera Voice newspaper, “Over the last 35 years, I have tried to share the message about restoring and managing Indian River Lagoon resources. Effective management of any resource requires some ownership.”

Among the other Charlie Award winners was Leesa Souto, executive director of the Marine Resources Council and the Doherty Visiting Professor at Florida Tech.
