New Artist in Residence Gives First Concert

Soprano Alice Lestang, Florida Tech’s 2016 Paris Conservatory Artist in Residence, gave her first concert Feb. 17 at Gleason Performing Arts Center.

T. Dwayne McCay, executive vice president, chief operating officer and incoming president, offered opening remarks.

Lestang was joined by Florida Tech faculty Eliza Dopira, mezzo soprano, and Kyle Knappenberger, baritone. They performed arias, duets, and trios from operas by Mozart, Poulenc, Donizetti and others.

Lestang’s next public event is a lecture exploring opera and its traditions, forms and styles, from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, March 18, at Evans Library. Her next concert is at 7 p.m. March 25 at Gleason Performing Arts Center, when she will be joined by pianist Romain Louveau.
