Assistant Professor Heather Crawford and Administrative Assistant Jennifer Nessmith have been awarded the International Student Service Organization’s 2015 Award of Excellence for Staff and Faculty Service to International Students and Scholars.
Crawford is an assistant professor in computer sciences and cybersecurity. Nessmith is an administrative assistant in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering.
The award is given each year to a university faculty member and staff member for their outstanding support, help and care for international students. The nominees are selected by international students at Florida Tech who are asked to select one identify staff and faculty members who displayed an extraordinary effort to encourage cultural sensitivity and who made assisting international students with their integration into campus life their top priority.
“The International Student Service Organization and the International Student & Scholar Services Office believe that staff and faculty members play a key role in the lives of international students and scholars, and have a big impact on their academic lives in the United States,” said Torri Leslie, manager of International Student Programs. “We’re very proud of Heather and Jennifer’s commitment to the students and applaud their selection for the award.”
