Tuesday, Dec. 1, is a special day for Florida Institute of Technology. And if the act of giving makes you feel good, it could be a special day for you, too.
On Dec. 1, we are launching Day of Giving for Florida Tech on conjunction with the international philanthropy event, Giving Tuesday. It’s a simple idea. We all know that Thanksgiving Thursday is a day to celebrate thankfulness, while Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become significant shopping days.
A growing movement called for Tuesday, Dec. 1, to be a day of giving back, and since December 2012, Giving Tuesday has been a global celebration for a new tradition of generosity.
Florida Tech’s Day of Giving will be an interactive and online experience encouraging alumni and our larger global community to give back to the university. There will be challenges among groups of alumni, competition between the colleges, and a fun atmosphere throughout the day. In addition to the colleges, the university’s botanical garden, museums, Evans Library, weVENTURE, Continuing Education office and WFIT-FM 89.5 are participating.
Financial gifts of all sizes will be welcomed, and funds will support the priority needs of the university.
The goal of the day is to encourage participation from as many alumni and friends as possible. You can track the countdown clock until Dec. 1 and then get all sorts of information on the day at our special website, http://dayofgiving.fit.edu/, including a real-time tally with a live leaderboard and links to social media.
We are all ambassadors for Florida Tech, and our shared success ensures a bright future for our university. So I’ll see you Tuesday, Dec. 1, for our inaugural Day of Giving.
If you want more information leading up to Day of Giving, please contact Kim Amidon in our Development Office at firstname.lastname@example.org or 321-674-6141.
Thanks for all you give to Florida Tech, on that day, and every day.
