Paulo Pires, far left, managing director, Embraer Engineering and Technology Center USA, joins Florida Tech’s Rob Salonen, Dan Kirk and Guy Boy at an innovation event this summer.

Florida Tech faculty and staff met with the engineering staff and managing director of Embraer’s Engineering and Technology Center USA in June in a Discover Florida Tech event called “Tapping Into Your Tier One Research University: Innovation Tools for Aerospace and Human Centered Design.”

Featuring rapid presentations and Q&A sessions involving Florida Tech’s External Relations, College of Engineering and School of Human-Centered Design, Innovation and Art, the event coincided with Embraer’s Innovation Week.

Florida Tech participants included Guy Boy, Dan Kirk, Rob Salonen, Gretchen Sauerman and Lucas Stephane.

The event solidified the partnerships and synergy between the Embraer and Florida Tech and highlighted the university’s role as an accessible resource for the company’s innovation processes.

“We plan to continue these sessions with Embraer and other companies as a program to encourage engagement with Florida Tech research capabilities, student success and the Florida Tech Research Park community,” Salonen noted.
