At a recent Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida (ICUF) meeting in Tallahassee, Florida Tech President and CEO Anthony J. Catanese and ICUF President Ed Moore met with Florida Gov. Rick Scott and Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera. Florida’s 31 independent colleges and universities have more than 155,000 students, with one-third of those students attending four-year Florida colleges. They have an annual economic impact of more than $5 billion. These colleges and universities award 25 percent of Florida’s four-year degrees each year and produce 54 percent of two- and four-year degrees awarded to first-time graduates in Florida.
