Enrique (Henry) Perez, an assistant professor in the Bisk College of Business, and Dale Walsh, a cashier at Panther Dining Hall, were each awarded the International Student Service Organization’s Award of Excellence for Service to International Students and Scholars. The award is given to one faculty member and one staff member who demonstrated outstanding achievement and made extraordinary efforts to assist international students.
International students and scholars were invited to submit nominations for the award, and the Office of International Student and Scholar Services selected the winners. Walsh was nominated by 28 different students, who focused on her kindness and ability to brighten students’ days with her smile and positive attitude. Perez’s nomination focused on his dedication to the “Did You Know?” campaign, a series of posters about culture differences, designed to combat stereotypes on campus and beyond.
The awards were presented during the ISSO’s Multicultural Dinner on Nov. 21.
