Compliment-grams (with candy), a raffle for a reserved parking space and plenty of good feelings will be part of the 2014 United Way campaign at Florida Tech, which runs Oct. 6-31.
Bearing the slogan, “We Are One,” the campaign will seek to raise $200,000, or about $5,000 more than last year’s total of $195,146.
“What affects our community affects Florida Tech because ‘we are one’ with the community,” said Joni Oglesby, vice president for support services at Florida Tech who is serving as the 2014 United Way employer campaign manager and loaned leader. “We partner with the United Way because we have found that it isn’t just helpful to communities, it’s crucial. When it comes to the financial stability, education and health of Brevard County, our United Way is working to figure out what our community needs and to make real change.”
Oglesby said she is confident campaign boosters such as Student Government President Carla Deras and “our amazing students” will follow up on last year’s strong effort with renewed support for the 2014 campaign.
The countywide campaign was kicked off in early September in an event on campus featuring members of the Florida Tech Panthers football team.
