United Way, Football Kick-Off Sept. 12

Pete the Panther will attend the United Way and Panther football kickoff.

It’s a kick-off times two on Friday, Sept. 12, as the United Way of Brevard starts its 2014 giving campaign and our football Panthers prepare for their opening home game of the season at a fun-filled, free community event on campus from 5-8 p.m. at the Olin Sports Complex.

The general public is invited to join students, faculty and staff for performances by the Florida Tech Cheerleaders and pep band as well as a visit from Pete the Panther. Carnival-type games will be available and Food Truck Crazy will sell food and refreshments.

“We are focusing on the building blocks of a good life – education, income and health – to ensure that our kids succeed in school, adults can secure a good job and manage their finances and we have a healthy community,” said Carol Craig, founder and CEO of Craig Technologies and this year’s United Way campaign chair.

Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome, though outside food and drink are prohibited. In the event of rain, festivities will move to the Clemente Center.
