Admission/Undergraduate

Mike Perry, director of undergraduate admission, will graduate from the U.S. Army War College with the award of Master of Strategic Studies during a July 25 ceremony at Carlisle Barracks, Pa.

Athletic Fundraising

Matt Kilcullen, associate vice president for athletic fundraising, is leaving to serve as director of athletics at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York, starting July 28. Kilcullen joined the FIT Athletics staff in August 2011.

Bisk College of Business

Jarin Eisenberg, program coordinator, published “Systematic policies hold back women in the workplace,” in Florida Today as part of the newspaper’s ‘Edge’ series of articles sponsored by Florida Tech’s Women’s Business Center. Find the article here.

College of Engineering

Kunal Mitra, previously interim head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, has been named the 2014 ASME Journal of Heat Transfer Outstanding Reviewer. Mitra will be recognized at the 2014 IMECE Heat Transfer Division Awards Luncheon in Montreal, Canada, in November.

Jean-Paul Pinelli, professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, presented “Control of seismic vibrations of a 3D asymmetrical 3-story building model with three TMD’s” at the Eurodyn14 conference in Porto, Portugal this summer. The paper is based on the work of Pinelli’s graduate student, Kai Chen, who graduated last year with a master’s degree in civil engineering.

College of Science

Hakeem Oluseyi, a professor in the Department of Physics and Space Sciences, will spend the upcoming academic year at Massachusetts Institute of Technology with the school’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Visiting Professors and Scholars program. Participants are chosen for their professional contributions and \”potential contributions to the intellectual life of MIT.”

Human Centered Design Institute

Institute Director Guy Boy lectured on the role of the pilot in human-centered design at the recent Royal Aeronautical Society in London. Earlier this summer, Boy gave two lectures at the International Space University Space Studies Program 2014 in Montreal, Canada: “Orbital Refueling System and Human-Centered Design,” and “Situation Awareness and Visualization.”

Management Processes Improvement

Alison Bogart, director of the Office of Management Processes Improvement, was recently presented with the Kathy King Volunteer Award from the United Way of Brevard. The award recognizes the recipient’s “demonstration of character, integrity and caring for those less fortunate” in the community.

Student Affairs

Randy Alford, vice president, was presented the 2014 Lifetime Achievement and Service Award by ELS Educational Services at the national NAFSA: Association of International Educators conference in San Diego, Calif. He was recognized for his dedication and contributions to international education.
