Yang Wu, an acclaimed orthopedic surgeon from Shanghai, China, has been named the first 2014 Florida Institute of Technology Biomedical Engineering Distinguished Post-Doctorate Researcher.

An author or co-author of more than 10 peer-reviewed papers and holder of two patents, Wu was recognized in a brief ceremony this spring on campus. His research is centered on developing an artificial anterior cruciate ligament prosthesis.

“I am very grateful to receive this award and so happy to join this very good team,” he said at the ceremony, which featured College of Engineering Interim Dean Martin Glicksman, Biomedical Engineering Department head Ted Conway and Larry Hench, director of Florida Tech’s Biomedical Materials and Photonics Center.

“It really is an honor for us to have such a high-caliber post-doc working in or department,” Conway said.
