ASME Student Chapter Recaps Busy Academic Year

Members of the student chapter of ASME.

The Florida Tech student chapter of ASME (the American Society of Mechanical Engineers), advised by Professor Beshoy Morkos and led by President Gerid Paquette, performed community outreach events, built industry partnerships and, for the first time, won a competitive Diversity Action Grant from ASME over the previous academic year. The grant allowed the chapter to fund its community engagement, including hands-on events at several area schools. The end of the spring 2014 semester saw the chapter hold the inaugural ASME award ceremony. Unlike typical ceremonies where faculty select students for awards, this event allowed students to select professors and peers who have had a positive impact on their education and experience at Florida Tech.
