Phi Kappa Phi Welcomes Artist Robert Barrett

The Florida Tech chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is pleased to welcome artist Robert T. Barrett to the Foosaner Art Museum April 17.

Barrett is an accomplished painter, muralist and illustrator who has exhibited his work in numerous art shows, including at the Society of Illustrators, the Directors Guild of America and the National Arts Club, all in New York, and galleries in Los Angeles, Utah and Germany.

In addition to being a working artist, Barrett is a professor in the Department of Visual Arts at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He has been recognized and honored in both fields, including receiving a joint grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Utah Arts Council, being chosen as the 2010 Distinguished Educator in the Arts by the Society of Illustrators and winning the Karl G. Maeser Award for Teaching Excellence at BYU in 1995.

Barrett will be involved in multiple activities on April 17, all of them free and open to the public. Each will take place at Foosaner’s Harris Community Auditorium.

  • At 2 p.m., Barrett will hold a portrait painting demonstration.
  • At 5:30 p.m. there will be a cocktail reception at the museum. RSVPs are required by emailing pkp@fit.edu by April 15.
  • At 6 p.m., Barrett will offer the presentation, “A Life Spent Among Pictures.”
