It has been hard not to notice the worker activity, crane, construction materials and orange fencing at the Panthereum. What’s happening is the venue is increasing 50 percent in size. The stage and overhang will be much bigger and the electrical service will double with new house speakers and house lights. Previously, speakers and lights had to be brought to the site for each event. Collapsible white umbrellas are new to shade audience members in the terraced seating areas. “The Panthereum was originally conceived as a much smaller space. It has grown to be a major campus venue,” said Greg Tsark, university architect.
Work is scheduled for completion by the end of February.
