October is United Way month; presentations are ongoing and pledge forms are due to the group contact, then to Human Resources by the end of the month. The theme this year is Education, Income and Health—the building blocks of the community.
The Florida Tech goal last year of $175,000 was exceeded with $207,000 raised. The 2013 goal is $210,000 and, although there are some major donors, it’s all the pledges that get us there, according to Joni Oglesby, vice president for support services.
“I especially want to acknowledge the facilities department, which had the greatest increase in participation among all the departments on campus during last year’s campaign,” said Oglesby. “I thank every Florida Tech staff and faculty member, and student who gave last year. I’m filled with gratitude and Panther Pride.”
Oglesby asks everyone to give generously, to pledge a little more than last year, or to give if they haven’t given before. Sharing campaign leadership is Mischka Maxwell, financial affairs.
Part of the Florida Tech campaign is “Did You Up Yours?” Groups with more members contributing than last year, or with faculty and staff who give or pledge more than last year, will earn buttons imprinted with this phrase.
The traditional end-of-campaign celebration and prize event will take place Nov. 12 in the Board of Trustees Room, next to the SUB Café. For more information, contact Karen Hahn, Support Services, at ext. 8700 or via email at email@example.com.
