The Melbourne Beautification & Environmental Advisory Committee presented Florida Tech with a “We Noticed” award on Feb. 12 for outstanding plantings and landscaping. The award is for the new Florida Tech Commons building, which opened in September 2012.
“We value an attractive campus and give much attention to maintaining and beautifying the Florida Tech grounds. It pleases us greatly to be honored for these efforts,” said President Anthony J. Catanese.
Catanese has a keen interest in attractive, sustainable landscapes, rooted in his professional background in urban planning. A member of the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Certified Planners, Catanese previously maintained a private practice in design, planning and development. He was appointed by President Jimmy Carter to the National Urban Policy Task Force and served as chair of the Milwaukee City Planning Board and the Gainesville City Planning Commission.
