Florida Technology was named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for the sixth consecutive year for exemplary community efforts.
“Civic engagement is not simply taught; it is lived. Our students, faculty and staff engage very seriously in this commitment to helping others,” said President Anthony J. Catanese.
Displaying community involvement, January-December 2011, 811 individual student, staff and faculty volunteers donated more than 21,000 community and campus service hours. They assisted 51 local and national nonprofit organizations through service and fundraising, collecting over $30,000, with Greek Life, Residence Life and the Campus Services Office leading many of the on-campus service and philanthropy efforts.
The Corporation for National and Community Service, which leads President Obama\’s national call to service initiative, United We Serve, administers the annual Honor Roll award.
