In March, 36 students from the College of Engineering participated in the National Space Club (NSC) monthly luncheon meeting at the Radisson Cocoa Beach. Dressed in their best, they boarded a bus for KSC at the Clemente Center.
Four of the students, Allison Metzger, Jennifer Mori, Chad Harvey and Milen Womack gave the keynote presentation at the meeting. They were introduced by COE faculty members Daniel Kirk and Ron Reichard. The presenters received a standing ovation, according to Greg Peebles, director, Florida Tech Environmental and Regulatory Compliance.
The other aerospace, mechanical and civil engineering students sat among the 300-plus aerospace industry “movers and shakers” at the corporate sponsors\’ tables during the luncheon. “The Missile, Space and Range Pioneers helped make this possible along with a donation of a KSC bus by Delaware North/NASA to provide student transportation from campus to Cocoa and back.
“Both the pioneers and NSC members were extremely complimentary on the knowledge, enthusiasm, and presence our students provided,” said Peebles.
