In early January, Congressman Bill Posey hosted a conference by the United States Department of Housing & Urban Development on federal grant writing in the Hartley Room on campus. More than 200 people signed up, filling the room to capacity. This was the second such conference hosted by Congressman Posey on campus. They are designed to increaseopportunities for those seeking government funding opportunities, such as faculty.
Also supporting the conference were the Women’s Business Center and the Florida Tech Research Office. Tristan Fiedler, associate vice president for research, helped organize the event.
On Jan. 23 Posey also introduced on campus, via video, an Entrepreneur Summit, which brought together entrepreneurs from Brevard County to showcase their innovative technologies to public and potential investors. The goal of the summit, presented by the Women\’s Business Center, was the creation of new jobs and businesses in the county.
