Dale Dettmer Gives Address at Dec. 17 Commencement

Chairman of the Florida Tech Board of Trustees Dale Dettmer gave the commencement speech at the fall commencement ceremony in the Charles and Ruth Clemente Center on Dec. 17.

Dettmer, who has practiced law in Melbourne since 1974, is a partner in the law firm of Krasny and Dettmer. He is board certified in taxation by the Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization and Education, and is “AV” rated by Martindale Hubbell, the highest rating for legal ability and ethics.

At the ceremony, two bachelor’s degree graduates received the Faculty Honors Award for maintaining a 4.0 (perfect) grade point average. They are Xenia Janice Fave of Virginia Beach, Va., and Judson Benton Locke, of Gulf Shores, Ala. Both are physics majors.

About 1,345 degrees were awarded, including associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees. These include students earning degrees through the Melbourne campus in December; summer 2011 graduates; students who completed degree requirements this fall through the university’s Extended Studies Division, which has 10 sites throughout the United States and a virtual campus; and about 530 students earning degrees through online programs.
