The days seem to go extra fast this time of year and it’s hard to believe that Fall Commencement is just about upon us, as are the holidays. I hope as you wrap up projects and make plans for the upcoming break that you’ll take time to enjoy what the university offers in entertainment for your spare time.

Our athletics teams have some exciting events coming up. For example, our swim teams will compete for the first time in the new Panther Aquatic Center on Friday, Dec. 2. The following day our basketball teams tip off the Sunshine State Conference with play at the Clemente Center.

I think you’ll appreciate the fruits of some of the hard work all fall semester that has gone into the musical events coming to us in December. On Dec. 2 Florida Tech Strings and Winds will present Duet: A Classical Double Feature and on Dec. 6, the Jazz Syndicate offers Jazz to the World.

Also, all faiths are welcome on Dec. 4 to Fr. Doug Bailey’s annual tree lighting and Candlelight Advent Mass at the Pantherium.

Remember that the Ruth Funk Center exhibit, INTERWOVEN: Contemporary Textile Art continues until Dec. 17 and Alejandrina Cué, whose work is exhibited there, gives a Gallery Talk on Dec. 16.

Speaking of art, the Foosaner Art Museum’s current show, Treasures Revealed: Selections from the Permanent Collection, continues until Jan. 8.

You’ll find times and other details in the calendar section of this publication or the Athletics homepage.

I’ll see you in the Hartley Room again for my annual holiday party for all faculty and staff. It will be on Dec. 20 at 3 p.m. Please come with your holiday spirit and be ready to enjoy some festive fun and food.

Until then, I wish you and your families a very happy holiday season.
