More than 1,800 Florida Institute of Technology alumni from around the world donated to their alma mater for Florida Tech’s 3rd annual Day of Giving on Nov. 28.
Donors from 53 countries pledged more than $143,000 during the 24-hour fundraising event, held in conjunction with the international effort known as Giving Tuesday. Introduced in the United States in 2012, Giving Tuesday, which follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday, is a day of international philanthropy benefiting non-profit organizations.
Recipients included the Athletics Department, the university’s five colleges, the Panther Fund, Evans Library, WFIT FM-89.5, the Botanical Garden, University Museums and weVENTURE.
The money raised will support Florida Tech’s greatest needs, including financial aid, research and student activities.
