A Florida Tech delegation of Hamid Rassoul and Michael Grace from the College of Science, Stephen Wood, Robert Weaver and Muzaffar Shaikh from the College of Engineering and Computing, and Tristan Fiedler from the Office of Research attended the launch of the Florida Institute of Oceanography’s newest research vessel, the 78-foot R/V W.T. Hogarth, on May 23 in Tarpon Springs.
Florida Tech and other FIO members will use the vessel to study and educate students on such topics as red tide, oil spills and fisheries.
The $6 million vessel is named after William Hogarth, the recently-retired dean of the University of South Florida College of Marine Science.
