A facility that brings the power of cutting-edge technology to research opened Jan. 22 at Evans Library.
The Digital Scholarship Laboratory, a modern and airy space on the second floor of the library, allows researchers to access, integrate and share their work across all disciplines using digital resources and tools such as data curation, digitization, geospatial analysis and visualization.
Among its offerings are a large video-display wall, interactive computing, virtual reality technology, 3-D printing and scanning, data analysis and graphics-intensive software.
The DSL is envisioned as a springboard for innovation for all of the Florida Tech community. It will support research, teaching and learning in all FIT disciplines while offering infrastructure and services not provided by other campus entities.
“Our aim is to provide not only data and information but also the tools and the physical and digital spaces for students to interact and innovate,” said Dean of Libraries Sohair Wastawy.
