Members of the Florida chapter (Pod 4-5) of the Studio Art Quilt Associates brought color and creativity to the covered bridge leading from the Babcock Street parking area as they installed 23 art flags as part of the group’s regional conference held on the Florida Tech campus in mid-May.

The flags are loosely based on Tibetan prayer flags, which are sets of five flags representing happiness, peace, compassion, strength and wisdom. This SAQA art flags aim to promote good wishes, noted Mary Dyer, manager, External Relations and Economic Development, which sponsored the conference.

The flags and covered bridge lead visitors to the Funk Center for Textile Arts, which is showing the SAQA-related “Southern Accents” exhibition.
